Grabbed some snacks at the gas station, white couple in front of me in they're late 20s maybe, and scruffy looking, broke, the woman must have been close to 8mo pregnant. Bags of chips, candy, soda, the only healthy thing was some nuts or trail mix. I wanted to say something but figured it wouldn't help, then she pulls out the food stamp card or WIC or EBT whatever, everything went through they didn't have to pay for the junk.. there were good apples bananas oranges right next to the cash register. There was a section of the healthy trail mix and dehydrated foods they didn't touch. And some somewhat decent pantry basics. By the time I checked out, couldn't see if they had a car or walked off.

My baby boy is six months old and he will never fall victim to modernity as long as I have any say in it. Sad that the generation he is growing up with will be so foreign to him, but as far as I’m concerned that is a huge advantage

Yes, they should've given their children a childhood like previous generations were allowed to enjoy.
Having them rewatch the same handful of VHS tapes on the TV. Let's watch lion king again.
Or waste days having them grind Pokemon to level 100 on the Gameboy color. Or have them insult their moms friends on xbox as they play halo online. Or whatever electronic distraction was popular at your age.
