Many tomboys are pissed about it and have said that they might've been infected with this mental illness had people tried to convince them they were (insert alphabet term here) when they just played differently.

Children are impressionable, most people convince themselves because it's popular too.

I was a tomboy briefly as a child because I was jealous of my younger brother. It lasted part of one summer when I was 6.
