They latched onto the fact that she dressed as a man.
But Joan, herself, said in her trial that she was told to dress as a man by the angels and would dress as a woman, again, when she fulfilled her calling.
And, apparently, Joan of Arc did not cross dress most of her life. It was only during active military campaigns that she did this (and during her trial). Some suggested it was to deter rape. Others suggested it made it easier for the male military to accept a 'manlier' version of her instead of a dainty and delicate teenage girl from the peasantry.
Whatever the case may be, there is no evidence at all that she was gay, asexual, transgender. None.
When women are in a "man's space" they tend to act more tomboyish. I hate how every expression of masculine/feminine energy is now equated with being transgender.
Many tomboys are pissed about it and have said that they might've been infected with this mental illness had people tried to convince them they were (insert alphabet term here) when they just played differently.
Children are impressionable, most people convince themselves because it's popular too.

How many tomboys did you know when you were a kid who grew up into beautiful feminine women? They may retain some of their "masculine" interests, like following sports, but they probably aren't into rolling around in the dirt as much anymore.
They were like the "ugly ducklings" that turned into beautiful swans. And they're often athletic, so they have nice bodies to grow into.
Tomboys were a lot of fun to have in a friend group. I had some female cousins who were tomboyish, would wrestle and play baseball with us boys. Sometimes we'd make a game out of "boys vs. girls" and things could get competitive. None of them are dykes, they're all married and have children now.
Agreed. I was a tomboy through middle school and high school. If there were all these people who would've started pushing that I was a tranmy, fuck knows what would have happened. My parent's influence was minimal growing up. It would have been a recipe for disaster.
