Any system is only as good as its ability to prevent criminals from taking over it. Most systems fail in this regard.

The ONLY way to prevent criminals from taking over is competition. Anyone who thinks government or any other centralized power can do it is a moron. The instant there is an institution with the power to control an industry, guess who's going to use their money and power to use that institution to smash their competitors? If there was no institution with the power to ban ivermectin or force remdesivir we wouldn't have had a problem.
