How is falling prices a bad thing exactly?

Because prices will only fall in specific sectors that are overstocked thanks to their cock-up while stuff that you actually need (gas, electricity, food) keeps climbing through the roof.

Once the stuff that is in current inventory is sold then you will be importing and buying items with your now de-valued dollar. That is if you have any dollars left. These merchants know what is about to come so they are having a fire sale to grab as much cash as possible before the livestock figures out just how bad things really are.

Welcome to stagflation.

Less profit for retailers, who are forced to cut employee hours or close outlets. I know, I know, I don't care about that, either.
