Storytime
This is a long one so I'll try to condense it
A beauty pageant girl marries a man and has two kids, a boy and a girl. Things go well until they are preteens and she meets a new man. With hardly a thought she runs off, leaving her husband and children with hardly an explanation except that's what she wants to do. What happened with them I can't say other than it didn't last long. I imagine he got his rocks off for a weekend, maybe a little longer, but before the year was up he told her to GTFO. Rightfully rejected by her family she stays away. Her kids grow up, go away to college and get married. Her ex husband dies. Her son does pretty well for himself and after several years decides to reconnect with his mother. By now she's elderly and still alone. Her buys her a nice condo on the other side of the country so his sister can keep an eye on her. Sister barely tolerates her and she spends decades alone in the condo, slowly building a horde, alone and forgotten until eventually the son decides to move her to a nursing home where she is to this day. Because of her little fling she basically threw away her entire life and her family.
I know all this because I was one of the guys clearing out her horde and I was able to piece it together from the varied stories I heard about her (everyone had a different interpretation but I had access to all her letters and records that told the real truth). I also found a picture from her beauty pageant days. She was no winner.
15 years married and the only thing that got us over some of the rougher patches was her realization that our boys would treat her the same way that I treat my mother.
I got a friend who's on the same path. His wife left him and their 12 years old son for a fling that didn't last. One year later she wants to come back but nobody want her back. Even the son doesn't want anything to do with her.
It's pretty sad all around. The woman is old and decrepit. Can't take care of herself and she has no living relatives that care. Her son is doing it out of a sense of obligation. Her daughter is dying and she has more problems besides taking care of her mom. It was a nice condo, much too big for one old lady but every room was filled with crap from other lifetimes. Morbid.
Everyone talked about what a sweet old lady she is so other than a friend of the daughter hinting at her running away you'd think her family was a bunch of shits. Once I started piecing it together I learned the truth.
