You would think that if you bought a watch that costs as much as a house that it would at least be elegant.

Ugh.

I posted this last week on S/wristwatches

Since you are the watch guy I have a question that this article didn't address and maybe you might know:

How the hell was the thief going to fence it? Granted it's not the Mona Lisa but there just can't be that many of these things floating around.

Good question. If I were a nigger that stole one, maybe I wear it myself and go floss it in a nigger nightclub and get shot outside for it. Or, I go sell it to a drug dealer. From what I understand, if you file a police report for something like this, the robbery squad forwards the info to all the pawn shops. However, if I’m (((unscrupulous))) and I can get a $450K watch for $25K or $50K, it might be worth it. Can’t say.

I can tell you that even lower end luxury watches like Omega and Rolex where most of their inventory retails for a comparatively paltry $7K-$50K all have warranty cards and serial numbers and if it ever needed servicing, they would confiscate it and call the police. However, the nog who stole it isn’t going to take it to Richard Mille for a service. He just wants to unload it and buy guns, weed and pussy. The poor bastard who buys it from him stolen will—assuming he didn’t have the good sense to know it was stolen.

How hard is it to take a watch off a man you just shot?

This wasn't an attempted robbery.

This was a warning or an attempted assassination.

He called it an attempted robbery though, so either hes stupid (not likely), or he doesn't want the reason for the hit against him to be known.

Makes me ask "why?"

I'm not saying that you're wrong but it is mentioned in the story that the watch has an extra security feature do defeat thieves, which seems believable to me considering the cost of the fucking thing.

Idiot was begging to be robbed

You would think an expert like himself would be smart enough to know he needed a bodyguard in a third world city like New York.
