They'll be substituting it with canola and soybean oil. That's not an improvement.
Well if it wasn't a supply chain issue they'd be able to pan fry in animal fat instead of deep frying in whatever.
Pretty sure the reason the whole world is using vegetable oil for cooking is due to the price. It's significantly cheaper than tallow or lard. That's not a temporary disruption of the supply chain. It has been this way for decades.
The last I heard, Europe could feed itself. Maybe it's time to plant some crops in the Rhineland.
Tell the French they are now forced to cook with corn oil and they might overthrow the government.

Not that hard to just save the fat in the pan for next time if you have to.
