I grew up in a pretty kikey area and all I heard was how awful the Republican areas were. Then I moved there and it wasn't that bad.
Years later I moved to the CA coast, a very Dem area and people made jokes about the crazy liberals and then 'haha, it's really not that bad...'
No, it was far far worse. LA and SF are liberalism taken to its extreme. It is what every purple area wants to become and it's a disaster.
The Republican area I lived in later turned Democrat and then it turned to shit.
