This is really bizarre. Don't kids routinely walk to school or the bus stop by themselves? I live near an elementary school and I see small kids walking unsupervised to school all the time. How could that be any different than leaving your kid alone at the park for a short time?

That's what I read too. I bet if you asked her if she could do it again, she'd probably run up to the cops and say, "I'm watching them for my friend" ... but maybe she didn't know the kids well enough _shrug_
