When I was a youngster in the 80s, I was free range. These people are nuts.
I am not completely free-range for my kids, as I think there are way too many people out there doing everything to subvert traditional values. If I could trust my neighbors not to undermine the values I teach my kids, then maybe I would be more free range with them, but since America has lost her way and there is no morality anymore among her citizens, then my kids will get to be free-range in different ways.
Yeah I grew up 80 miles from a city in a town of 8000.
The black neighborhood was literally "the other side of the tracks" with the police station standing guard.
We rode bikes, no helmets, built tree forts, kick the can till 9pm, baseball and football in the few empty lots. Had a great time.
Today, places like that exist less and less due to the rural opioid and meth epidemic.
Though back in my home town, I'd raise my kids the same way.
We had dirt clot fights on top of dirt hills. We were so mean!
I haven't seen a tree house much less a kid climb a tree in well over a decade.
Yep I feel you on the opiod shit.
I used to have to walk my cousins to school in crack infested NYC.
Theyd routinely try to sell to my cousins which is why I ended up walking them to school.
So when the fucks would start their shit I'd say, "you must feel really good trying to sell poison to a 7 year old kid."
To which the ghetto celeb would respond, "yo dun jus treynah mayke paypah noem seyin yo?!"
Zero IQ and conscience. Exactly why NYC is the way it is now.
Too many low IQ pavement apes continually made excuses for and protected by the 👃.
there is morality in the USA the problem is there is no common morality. without common morality the most immoral will game the cracks between the various moral perspectives, which leads to the tranny suicide crisis but since you are not allowed talking about suicide rates of degenerates it gets shoved under the rug or has the can kiked down the road.
Traditionally Christianity was the common source of morality.
We used to traipse all over the woods by my house when I was as young as 6. Sure, it was with my brother and in a group, but my brother is only 2 years older than me, almost exactly. (Hmmm we were both born about 9 months after my parents' anniversary.)
And if not my brother than my friends, most of whom were in Cub Scouts with me.
Did you ever have the misfortune of falling off your bike onto the gravel concrete?
Still get shivers from that pain.
Duh. Once I rode my skateboard down the biggest hill in town and I made it to the bottom but was going so fast I couldn't stop and I ran over some gravel at the bottom. I wiped out and tore a huge chunk of flesh from my elbow, about the size of a half dollar and seep enough that I could see the muscle (though I didn't actually damage the muscle, just thinned out the fat layer). No stitches, just some antibiotic ointment and gauze.
I also bring up the fact that the drainage sewer system is worthless in Florida against heavy rain.
We routinely used to ride our bikes run through and kick sewer water on our friends and vise versa.
And for me to be afraid of catching a fictitious virus that's 99% recoverable would be laughed at.
According to the old definition of an immune system, mine should be fucking bullet proof.
