The problem is the enormous power needed for massive amounts of water used, and where to put the brine. I suppose they could use death valley for the brine. Maybe use that renewable energy to fuel the process? Sounds expensive as hell, but at least Nestle will still get to sell the free stuff out of the ground.

Put the brine back in the ocean where is comes from. I was actually talking about 'new' ways to make the ocean potable by new research which it seems now is a better place for money.
