The juror clearly lied. That should be grounds for a mistrial. Not sure if they then defer to what the alternate juror would have to say.

Maybe England is right about banning coverage of active cases. I don't think that's quite right, but clearly both ends produce bad results. Maybe something in the middle produces both bad results. What to do, IDK.

England's system had us livid over banning coverage of muslim rape gangs, so clearly we want coverage.

More evidence that a mistrial will be declared on appeal. Could be that the defense attorney didn't miss it, knew it was a pre-determined guilty verdict and needed a reason for a reversal on appeal.

In US law, can evidence arising post-trial of a juror having "perjured" themselves be used as evidence for a mistrial?

Obvious setup. I followed the 'trial' and I still can't tell you the prosecutions authoritative cause of death. They had four different expert witnesses that gave completely contradictory testimonials
