The genetics don't end up getting passed down (the offspring doesn't survive, theoretically) so it's not like rogue genetic material is going to breed crazy mutated mosquitoes in a few years. It's possible, though.
But I don't think they really understand what getting rid of that bug population will do to the ecosystem.
