I could go on for weeks about our monetary system/financial system. I'll condense it to it is criminal in its current state. Any currency will suffice given a high trust society. But we have people (yes, I know what you're thinking, LOL) stealing wealth from citizens at a rapid pace. Our economy is collapsing as a direct result of fraud and theft. We have two choices: remove the criminals or change the system. I'm skipping over a lot of background to avoid making this unreadable. It's unlikely either will happen because the criminals aren't going to give up their operation. The only feasible option is crypto currency. And that has different problems. It skirts the criminals because no one controls it but the criminals do control currency exchange. Here lies the problem. How do you switch currencies? Like I said, I could ramble on for hours but I'll stop here.
