Over x amount and unless the body is acted upon by an external force, stable orbits decay (that's fall into the larger body for you midwits). Millions of years ago the Earth was hotter than it is now by a considerable amount (Trilobites in Arizona for example) and since we are now a teeny tiny bit closer to the sun we are somehow cooler? Please. Al climate is changed by the current output of the Sun, not by what people do and not by any minor discrepancy in the orbit of the Earth. Now fuck off.
