I can't wait until everybody gets home around 6, plugs in their cars and the green grid collapses. This is nuts.

Yeah dont think so. Aside from the massive strain on the electrical grid, and how that power is generated in the first place, electric cars are just not feasible outside of urban / suburban areas. Not with the current technology and infrastructure. Ill keep my gas truck, thanks.

Never buying GM again.

GM is counting on batteries becoming much denser in terms of energy storage - technology that's probably already been achieved and is waiting in the wings. There is little risk to making this statement in 2021.

Exactly. It's 20 years in the future. Battery technology has every indicator it will be there well within that period.

The growth requirements for the grid really are not problematic.

Apparently facts upset the shills. https://poal.co/s/insanity/308953/c84f661f-52e3-43d0-9502-1985c46c394e#cmnts

Basic signaling over powerlines, RF, and internet is certainly possible. Not to mention, randomized and prioritized charging can be done based on user preference.

Based on average use, the typical user need only charge once or twice per week. So no need to immediately begin charging unless user denoted immediate need. Randomized charging over the next 8-14 hours or so early absorbs the charging load. Not to mention can dynamically adjust based on lots of external environmental factors (temp, time, need, and so on).

The required level of generating and line expansion to accommodate this is less than the leap from the 70s to 80s. It's oil companies telling everyone this is a big deal.

In other words, there is no indication this is not a manageable issue.

Worked really well in Texas last week and in CA last year. Totally manageable. 👍

Hope you're joking. Feds mandated Texas not exceed 60% output.

CA is also an entirely different issue.

Windmills in Texas.

They make up less than 10% of grid capacity.

You clearly don't understand.

Add in the 3.8% of useless solar energy and you are pushing close to 30% of the grid.
