I know a trans woman and she didn't have her dick chopped off because she did actual research and spoke to other people that had it done and decided she'd be happy just living as a woman. Her initial answer when I asked if she'd ever considered it was "hell no, I don't want to live with an open wound", and then she told me how it would be if she did.
I talked about the suicide rate with her once and she said that, from talking to people that had it done, that doctors are generally really honest about what the result will be, but that these people think they'll be different somehow and everything will be perfect, and that this will "fix" them and their lives will be perfect, so when they get home and reality hits and everything is like they were told it would be the regret hits them like a truck.
And for anyone who gets their panties in a twist about me using female pronouns, I've known her since high school and known her as a woman for almost twenty five years, she passes completely, is saner than me, and she's a friend, I'll call her what I want.
I don't care what you do. I'd likely call a bloke in a dress mam to facilitate and ease conversation if he asked.
...However should that be codified into law I won't respond well. Freedom of speech doesn't mean your average person is an asshole all the times. Some are. It's about not letting govt. set your speech, beliefs, or personal truth at the barrel of a gun. I'm full of manners. I get along w/ just about everyone. Try to force my compliance and I'll be a rabid cunt.
I wouldn’t have caught the whole pronoun thing but since you bring it up I’ll just point out you are part of the problem.
