Over 1,800 people have jumped off of the Golden Gate Bridge. Only 35 didn’t die.
All 35 survivors, 100%, reported feeling regret the moment they stepped off.
Obviously we can’t assume that all 1,800 jumpers felt the same way, but probably a significant portion did. Of all the painless ways to die, jumping sounds like the worst; you’ve got a solid 7 seconds to think about how big of a mistake you just made while being completely helpless to do anything about it
Confronted with the finality of any decision, people experience regret or depression.
Any decision?
As someone’s last decision ever though, I’d think they’d prefer to have it completed while they think it’s what they want, rather than even have the time to regret it yet be unable to change it
You're also describing post partum depression.
