"Among the captured German vehicles was a trailer, not unlike my own in bulk and scope, which I went to inspect. It proved inside to be wholly different from my snug vehicle wallpapered in maps. It was a sort of porno-parlour on wheels. It was covered in pictures of pin-ups and nudes, with rubber goods and materials for drag. Like the Marie Celeste, it had obviously been abandoned in a hurry; there were a lot of women's make-up articles open and in use, and two or three small cubicles with a shop-soiled look, like tatty miniature boudoirs. The whores' parts had evidently all been played by men. We were amazed at the efficiency of a nation that could include this amenity among its front-line rolling stock.
