Each man should be wise in measure,
but never know too much:
Rarely does a heart sing with joy
whose owner is too wise.

Each man should be wise in measure,
but never know too much:
He who doesn't know his fate
bears an unburdened heart.

Considering that knowing that he would die at Ragnarok literally drove Odin mad, and caused him to take actions that guaranteed Ragnarok would happen (killing Hel, chaining up Fenris, and trying to kill Jormungandr), I'd say being ignorant of your fate would be a good thing. Such knowledge would drive anybody mad.
