Owlchemy's Feast of Stephen post turned me on to this.

This day, the 26th of December, is an Irish holiday. But before the Feast of Stephens was Wren Day (en.wikipedia.org), where the "Wren Boys" wearing straw suits, hunt a Wren and then parade around bandying their catch.
