I always admired GnR, in part for this song and those lyrics in particular, because it doesn't pass judgement, it's just a statement about what a lot of people in America were thinking at that time, 'it doesn't make sense to me'.
Axl was an artist that spoke to what he believed with conviction and honesty. I'm not surprised at the omission, just disappointed.
