I get that it probably cost like a million bucks, but they didn't even want to run at least ONE low pressure round through the thing? What's the gun equivalent of blue balls?

30 second mark, looks like they did. It seems to be black powder. Guessing around 30 grains of 3F at .44 cal. (Full size frame, maybe 1858 version, 6 or so feet of burning powder in front of the pistol, kick, normal.) In that neighborhood, that's about a normal powder load. Cleaning it would be a real pain, have to be thorough.
