Buddhists have been killing each other longer than Christians had even existed. They repelled the Mongol hordes and the Ottomans in times past, and they did it with steel weapons. These are not a peaceful religion that is unaccustomed to violence, the fact that they lasted so long and spread so far is a testament to their faiths allowance for warfare.
