My kids have shot at that age.
I won't let them shoot handguns, they are too easy to get turned around. A bolt action 22 is the best for that age.

I shot when that age myself. A mature seven year-old is quite capable. Go back a generation or two and you'd be amazed what kids that age did ... now they treat them like infants even into their teens and beyond.
