Not good!
Me, I hate rattlin' snakes. Where I grew up in SE PA, we didn't have any, so I could roam the fields and woods with no problem. We had copperheads, but they are more likely to try to avoid ya, so no biggie. But when I moved to rattlin' snake country they scared the shit outta me many a time - LOL. I'm like Indiana Jones when it comes to snakes anyway.
Copperheads pack a bit of poison. My uncle got bit by one rebuilding a free standing stone wall and was close to death for a bit due to him have a heart valve issue. But they do tend to scurry off, Rattlers not so much. I got so paranoid about scanning the area for shaded rocks and holes, paid off as nobody got bit that was around me.
That's how they were where I lived, too. I only ever saw copperheads when messing with rock wall/fencing things. We had a lot of those, back in the day the farmers used to mark off their fields/property lines with rocks they took out when plowing and such. I think I also saw one cruising along a creek bed once, too, but they weren't a common sight.
