A $400 try-me-out 1911 sounds like a great idea for anyone 1911 curious and looking to see what lies outside of Glock 9mm world.
My biggest beef with selecting/purchasing a gun is that you have no idea how it shoots until you've already made the commitment and laid down the cash. Yes, you can rent most common guns at the range for a test drive but, in my experience, this only eliminates the worst of the worst. You can't really know the quirks of the platform until you've spent a few hours and a few hundred rounds with it in drills at the range. I've tried to love a few guns that I just couldn't after living with them for awhile, but I suppose that's part of the process.
