I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with .38 special and .357 (or even .44!) snubbies. They are such a handful to shoot, not really that fun, and very slow follow up shots.

I think .327 and its .32 companions are the holy grail for snubbies. I have a LCR in .327 and it is sublime. Very light recoil but still seems effective in gel. I shoot .32 long and .32 HR through it. Never tried .327 Federal Magnum. Also gives you 6 shots instead of 5.

I think .38 could be fine in a larger frame. Or getting .357 and running .38 is not a bad idea to have a stronger, less recoiling gun.
