Well I would guess that the cost of ammo would be a big part of it. I'm a neube, but I notice that 308 ammo is at 0.95 per round and 55.6 is around. 0.56 per round right now.
I happen to be in a a commie blue state with a limited budget. So buying a gun is a big expense and if one rifle costs more and has more expensive ammo, I'm gonna go cheaper first. I'm not saying AR-15 is better, but just obviously out of my price range.
