Own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball-sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbor's dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grapeshot, "Tally ho lads" the grapeshot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.

Sounds like you need a high capacity muzzle loader. 6 barrels, and they revolve when fired.

lol. Haven’t heard that one in a while. Good stuff. Imagine being asleep, and your neighbor sets off a cannon inside his house. That bitch would blow out all windows in his house and maybe some in neighbors house depending on proximity. The concussive of a cannon would deafen soldiers. A newer house is normally sealed more or less. Introducing that amount of concussive force would blow every maybe deform some cheap drywall or garage doors. leaving a window in a closed room safe.

Classic bit of Internet wisdom, right there.

Tangentially related, a buddy of mine carries a short trench knife as part of his EDC kit. The triangle blade is his main reason.

George Washington himself recommended 'buck and ball', that is to say, one large penetrator and a handful of buckshot. Even if the large ball missed a couple of pellets would get them and let them know they'd been hit.
