Because bulk FMJ training ammo goes bang 99% of the time and cost less than half what good ammo does. The other 1% of the time, Poal gets a picture.

If your good carry ammo only goes bang 99% of the time, you're picking the worst thing to cheap out on.

I would say supply and demand.

Failure rate on quality FMJ is substantially less than 1%. I'd say closer to 1 in a thousand rds.

Carry ammo is significantly more consistent than training ammo plus the extra cost of machining the hollow point and petals, it also usually has more boom behind the round.

I was going to say it is probably has to do with the hollow point. You don't want your round penetrating beyond the intended target. If you miss, you hope it isn't going throughs walls etc.

It's more than 1 in 1000. I go through a LOT of new FMJ from reputable manufacturers (Sellior & Belliot, Blazer, PPU, etc) and see at least a couple failures in each case.

I like to run the cheapest and dirtiest crap I can find for training, it causes more malfunctions which teach you to rapidly clear your weapon.

My Glocks are dirty little whores. I don’t run cheap and dirty ammo through them, but I can almost hear them cry out in pain whenever I do get around to cleaning them…

Pretty smart actually

You might want to try Winchester. It burns cleaner too.
