I'm mulling over putting an optic on one of my ARs for target shooting. I rarely use it for over 25 meters since it's my "quick trip to the indoor range within walking distance" rifle.

It has irons on it currently, which is fine for hitting the target at such close range. The trouble is I cant readily SEE holes in paper past 20 meters, so putting a red dot on it would still leave me with Schrodinger's Target.

Any suggestions on a magnified optic that's appropriate for such short range? Maybe a LVPO that I've heard of but know eff all about?

Re-reading the post. Seems I recommended a red dot... Sorry sir.

Getting into magnification. You got red dot with magnifier, holo with magnifier combo, ACOG, or Scope from my experience.

A simple Vortex Crossfire should get you into a reasonable scope under 150 with 2-7 magnification. But with the laundry list of conditions you noted in another post, is a scope good?

I only have a scope on my one long gun. I am getting myself an ACOG next, after playing with my buddies for a bit. I still like my EOTech too though. I was considering buying a magnifier to add to it now that I am getting older and eyes are not as good. But I am not sure a 500 holo sight with a magnifier addon is really what you are after.
