A buddy showed me the Hi-Point C9 he just bought and I'm...baffled. Who is the target market for this?

Clunky safety that I'd hate to use under pressure.

If you lock the slide back on an empty mag, joke's on you, you cant release the slide without dropping the mag (why???).

Ergonomics are unimpressive.

Aesthetics are 0/10.

I completely understand form over function handguns (most revolvers), and function over form (Glocks, SA's "totally not a Glock wink wink" XD9, etc), but Hi-Points are neither aesthetic nor functional. Why do people buy these?

Watch the demo ranch episode where he tests the Hi-point. For being a clunky cheap piece of shit, it virtually stood up to everything they threw at it and it still shot. Even with the slide damaged it still shot. Barrel full of dirt? Yep. Barrel full of concrete? Watch and find out.

Agreed it's shit but cannot say it's unreliable when needed.

As someone else sad, a cheap gun is still better than no gun.

I don't personally own one but I would definitely feel ok having one as a truck gun or something to toss somewhere for emergencies. Hell, for the cost, a guy could bury 10 out in the woods for just Incase and feel just fine that they are out there.
