A few interesting takeaways:

  • If you decide to submit the NFA Form 1 for a weapon now considered SBR to keep it in the current configuration you can submit for free
  • You can take steps to declassify the weapon as SBR by adding a longer barrel or making the weapon incapable of attaching a stock in the future.
  • When submitting the form you will need to provide SSN, Fingerprints, Photos of the weapon and Serial #
  • You're also required to submit a copy of the application to your local "Chief Law Enforcement Officer" (CLEO)
  • If you choose to pay the $200 for the SBR, photos of the weapon are not required
  • There are a number of legal initiatives in motion to try and squash 2021R-08F
  • Once approved you cannot sell the weapon without completing a Form 4, or declassifying the weapon (second bullet above).
  • Expect transferring the weapon in cases of inheritance to be be difficult (and costly as the SBR will need to be registered with each transfer) to avoid these challenges it's advised to transfer the weapon to a trust.
  • A trust could allow for additional privacy to separate the tracking of any single person from the weapon.

Anyone who falls for this obvious trap is a fool. Do not comply and wait for the courts to cite Bruen and squash the ATF's recent power grab.

There's gotta be an injunction against this coming soon, right?

Well over half the states have filed a lawsuit against the ATF. The GOA and the State of Texas have jointly filed an injunction/lawsuit in the 5th circuit.

Anybody find it weird they couldn't OUT RIGHT ban types of guns, so they made you get a tax stamp instead?

Also this is just like what the IRS did to weed back in the 50's If you had a tax stamp, you could have weed. However in order to get the tax stamp you needed the weed first. However you couldn't have weed without the stamp. Feds lost in court.
