Second picture of expansion. 1.8x original size, 100% weight retention

https://files.catbox.moe/bcb76j.jpg

I only fired one round into some jugs for an expansion test (5.2" barrel), and saved the rest (two boxes of 50). And the single round accuracy test all ended up in a single hole. Average cartridge weight varied by about 2-3 grains. I didn't think to measure America ammo to compare, so I might do that when I get home. No velocity test though. Penetration made it into the third bottle and slightly cracked the fourth (likely hydroshock). Bottle #2 was an Arizona Ice Tea gallon turned on its long side.

This is a near perfect scenario though with a long barrel and only plastic. It can't be worse than fmj though. And yes its steel case, with bimetal magnetic jacket, and berdan primed. I picked it up for my shtf hording stash and was highly sceptical, not knowing if it would even work properly. Now I'm wishing I was able to get several more boxes.

Nickle-plated steel case is fine. Even high dollar American-made JHP is often nickle-plated. Reloading isnt a significant concern because you're going to shoot off maybe a mag worth of JHP per year, not hundreds of rounds every trip to the range like you do with FMJ.

And 30¢ a round for JHP? Sweet price!

Russians make effective reliable shit. That’s literally the only design considerations quite often.

I've shot a few boxes of silver bear before, I wouldn't carry with it but it's decent stuff.

Is it brass or steel casings? If it’s steel, beware. That shit doesn’t always cycle.

It's nickel plated steel, so ejection shouldn't be an issue. I could see double feeds and stovepipes potentially happening though. I never buy steel cased ammo, but gunshow temptation and my desire for larger 9mm JHP stash got the better of me.

Well, I mean test ‘em out 🤷‍♂️

But I’d be damn sure they cycle before I’d pack them for EDC.

Last thing you need is for your gun not to work in a moment that really matters..but then I’m sure you already know that.

I bought some steel many years ago before I knew better. My rifle wouldn’t cycle them worth a shit. I thought the rifle was broken until a marine told me that steel sucks and brass is king. I never looked back after that. I’ve never tried the nickel plated ones before. I’m almost too scared to even go there haha.
