That’s what I was trying to say in a short paragraph about your picture. When the time comes there will be plenty but you have to have at least some sort of weapon to get out there and get one before others grab them most of the time and the willingness to do something when it’s time instead of hiding in your house. I fully agree, buy some of your own but a lot don’t as explained below and we don’t have a lot of “honest civilians” here either. I live in a 70% blue area and with illegals it’s probably 80-85%. And for some reason Oregon liberals love guns and have their own arsenals. They just want a magazine ban which just passed along with a permitting system. But they are well armed and are enemies. So there’s not really too many “innocent citizens” here. We also have antifa in all the countries surrounding Portland I’ve talked to them many times because they think I’m trustworthy and a liberal and we also have open communists who like to argue about “pure democratic socialism”(communism with voting after the purge) and stalinists/maoists in public. You have to travel 5-25 miles west depending on your path or 100 miles east to be in safe rural red areas where you’ve formed friendships. If the ballon went up for a commie takeover and the police were used, antifa and other liberals would do nothing or would join in just like they did with Covid. If it was an economic collapse or any other reason except communism the police wouldn’t stand a chance because then the police wouldn’t be liked by the above groups, liberals are crazy and think if the police are enforcing liberal/commie values the police will support them forever and their groups will never be targeted, just the evil conservatives and they’ll help the police out in return. But any other reason for the police to be used as a military force and automatically they all become corrupt and need to be dealt with and the above groups would take on the police. You got three basic type of conservatives around here, two are plentiful and pretty much useless, I don’t know if they could even be trusted if things went hot, they may run away in the middle of a fight, you’d be left by yourself at a critical moment and one is rare and important. You have the conservatives and some vets that are ready but are waiting for things to pop off and are loyal. These are extremely rare here and I only know a few. Then you have the ones who don’t have any guns and constantly talk about buying one but they can’t buy a Glock, Ruger or S&W handgun they need a $1900 kimber because some friend/co-worker/family member said it was the best. Then they always try to save up for it but never manage to get it or in the off chance they do, they’ll buy one 20 round box of ammo, show it off then put it in a draw and never practice with it. It’s the same thing for an AR or AK or any other rifle they can’t go budget or mid tier because people told them they need a tack shooter for 300 meters but they can’t even zero at a 50/100 meter target if they tried all day. They need a $400-$500 LMT BCG, a Geissele $300 trigger a stainless steel match grade barrel and a trijicon $1000-1500 thermal sight. Same as above but this generally never gets bought and they have nothing but possibly a handgun they don’t know how to use with 20 rounds of ammo. Then finally the last group are ready but won’t do anything and are basically useless. They talk about it constantly though, have their gear and “10,000 rounds of ammo” like they’ve read about but won’t leave their house. If the police or the commies come to confiscate weapons or round them up “they’ll take them out then”. Aren’t you going to help your neighbors or other conservatives fighting a week before a mile or two away or the next neighborhood over? “They’re on their own, I’ll take them out when they get to my place.” Then when you tell them that’s not the way it works and they’ll just seal the neighborhood and even if you owned dual mounted mini-guns you won’t win because they’ll just Waco your ass, they sit their dumbfounded, go into denial and won’t talk about it anymore because their Rambo fantasy just crumbled apart. For the people who show up here that are loyal and armed I don’t need to worry about taking care of them. I have the last large lot of a few acres with the only well water for miles. For the unprepared and possibly not loyal I’ve bought a lot of 10/22’s over the years when they’ve been on sale lol. They’ll have plenty of 25 round mags and ammo and they can use it until they can pick something else up like your photo, if they can’t bring at least one person down with 25 rounds and scatter others, I don’t really want them around using my equipment and food/water. Pretty much this is a rally point, you have 72 hours to get here or we may be gone to our coastal cabin. It all depends on the situation unfolding in the area, we may also stay and stick it out. But I know the trails to get there that are safe and we’ll leave the useless to fend for themselves and the rest of us will be around rural conservatives I’ve known and befriended for years and will take it from there. Im not a former SF, I’ve just been taught the outdoors and shooting since I could walk and don’t have nearly the same skill set as you. I did do 2 years of infantry and hated it, so many dumb people. Then I accidentally met the LTC in charge of our posts CID when he got a flat and I stopped to help about 6 months before my ets. After finding out my scores and wanting to go to college he convinced me to put in an application for a “probbie” position with CID, I’d have to re-enlist but it was contingent on getting selected because I wasn’t staying for a 5 year re-enlistment with the infantry. He promised I’d get it with his help and I did. After getting out I did a short time with federal law enforcement and hated it and left to do my own thing. The corruption is real. Some soldiers/people are fucked up, You’ve seen shit that I probably couldn’t believe and I’ve seen and have heard shit that I can hardly believe and you would think I was lying. Beatings, theft, shootings, domestic violence, rape, suicide, pedophiles murder etc it’s just non-stop. In a battalion you may see or hear of one or two things happening a month to someone in your unit but when it’s an entire base/fort then add in the civilian workers and dependents it’s non-stop. Killing themselves but they almost always iron and fold their clothes and lay them on the bed, if they’re clothed they’re wearing ironed clothing. It’s strange. I now also judge people on how they kill themselves. The messier, the less sympathy I have for them, it’s traumatic for the family to walk into or if it’s at a barracks it takes a lot to clean blood and brains off of cinder block which you do while a probbie your first year. Females making up fake rape cases, females openly setting up nco’s or officers with consensual sex then turning them in because they denied a leave request or were making them work the weekends. The guys end up jailed, discharged and divorced like idiots and 50 people knew beforehand and didn’t warn them that they were going to be setup. But they shouldn’t have been doing it in the first place. Females getting raped and/or killed for the dumbest reasons. Males raping other males at remote posts daily and nobody stopping it even though they know it’s happening and think it’s funny and laugh at the victim/s. The victim either goes awol or kill themselves or ends up fucked upland starts acting out only to be discharged at a later date. Pedophiles always with the dumbest excuses for ruining a child’s life. A person raping his roommate while passed out drunk and waking up in the middle, fighting him off and running to tell staff duty to only be told to shut up it was a drunken dream because the brigade commander is on the short list for general so it’s covered up so he doesn’t look bad(which he wouldn’t have)but comes to light finally and everyone in that chain of command is screwed and discharged in shame. More roommates raping each other while drunk but it’s called in right away. Soldiers killing each other over the dumbest shit you can imagine. An officer raping male soldiers after he invites them to his apartment to party before they leave the country. He gets the one or two who show up drunk, handcuffs them and rapes them in front of each other. WTF, 2 years over a hundred victims and only one came forward a year later once he could no longer live with it and ended up in the psych ward and then it unraveled for that officer pretty quickly. None of them even told other soldiers in the unit, even a vague warning like he’s kinda creepy don’t go over to his place if invited. We were losing old rape files that hadn’t gone to trial and couldn’t find them(huge deal) we searched everywhere, everyone was blaming each other then an nco did a routine room inspection of the clerks that worked with us. I’m one of the rooms the soldier had all the files in his bottom desk drawer were talking about approximately 50 files with pictures and testimony. He claimed he just wanted to be an agent and would read them before bed lmao. Sicko and was discharged. He could’ve read them in the office and any other file since everyone had clearance but to only pick the rape cases is demented and he already knew he didn’t have the scores to be an agent. We routinely read other files to see if something was missed, wrong etc but we never took home stacks of cases maybe one sometimes but that was it and it wasn’t for jerking off but work.
