I was given my older brothers BB gun at 4 and was told how to use it and what not to do by my dad. I used it constantly safely.
When we’d go shooting even when I was too young to shoot it was always safety first and him telling us how to aim and breathe control etc. When I was old enough to actually start shooting the “big guns” I didn’t need any lessons. I’d watched him and my uncles since I was little and even then knew that you don’t point a weapon at anyone even if it’s unloaded, always check to make sure it’s unloaded even if someone else has already checked etc.
