Edit: looking for your favorite .223

Looking for a rifle for pests. Threaded barrel for a suppressor Semiautomatic

Open to other small calibers but must be able to slap a suppressor on it.

Haven’t hunted in twenty years.

Any suggestions?

You're not going to have much luck finding a semi-auto that's suppressor ready in .22wmr. Bolt action, the Ruger American.

If you're not completely set on a rifle, the keltec PMR30 and an aftermarket threaded barrel would be a nice setup.

*edit - just saw your edit. Ruger Mini14. Then give it the A-Team treatment.

That’s a pretty gun.

Just going the AR route, I guess. Interchangeable, light, blah blah blah. Why aren’t all guns AR’s?

I'm glad every gun isn't an AR. There's just something about wood and metal together that's appealing.

Exactly..that's why I still have my 700BDL .270 since the early 80's. That glossy stock & barrel, there's just something about a traditional rifle.

True true. The ruger mini 14 mentioned earlier is gorgeous

Get a .17 HMR (Hornady Magnum Rimfire). Awesome rifles. I have two myself.

had one with a built in pistol grip, it shot amazing. killed a rabbit at 35 yards with out a sight jist down barrel, bullet was cci polymer tip it destroyed the right side of the rabbit nothing left. tasted amazing in a soup so delicious.

It's 4 times as expensive as .22LR around .22 per round. Also supply is going to be much tighter.

What are you hunting, squirrels? Just get a ,223, .308 or similar imo.

I’m thinking .223.

Looking for something my wife will shoot, too. .308 won’t fly.

5.56 is soft shooting unless it's in one of those ultra-lights. Get a heavy AR-15 with a threaded barrel. You want something supersonic so it blows the crap out of the suppressor. Rimfire is dirty as hell. You'll want a user serviceable suppressor if you get rimfire.

Gotta be semi-auto? Savage has a nice bolt action. 17HMR that's suppressor ready. I don't think their semi-auto A17 has a threaded barrel

Gonna go with .223 like all the other basic bitches

Have you looked at the Ruger 5.7x28mm carbine? It comes with a threaded barrel. I've seen expanding sub-sonic ammo advertised online. I have both the pistol and the carbine. It's handy that they both use the same ammo and magazines. I got them for the fun side of gun owning and shooting, but I do carry the pistol every day. It is kind of a big pistol, but it is very light weight.
