Concealed carry doesn't. Open carry does.
Concealed carry escalates a situation. Open carry deters.
I do a mix of both.
I don't know about that. I have a CCW and I wouldn't open carry if I could. Why would you want to let the bad guys know who to shoot at first? If I'm going somewhere to commit mass murder, the first people I'm going to target are the people that are a threat to me. If I just aim and fire they won't have enough time to draw and fire. Shit, they won't even hear the shot that kills them.
If you're going to go commit a crime your future consequences has no bearing on your decision, as evidenced by the decision in the first place. Being shot by someone with a cc may stop you after you begin murdering people, but walking in to a place and seeing several people with weapons displayed is an immediate deterrent that is much more likely to prevent the tragedy in the first place. The shooting will never happen with open carry. It will with concealed.
Essentially saying you prefer concealed is saying you would rather other people be shot so you aren't a target. That's pretty selfish and pretty cowardly. Be a deterrent not a harm reduction tool. Prevent the issue before it becomes an issue.
The CC "Element of surprise." Is only good once your a victim.

It's saying if the shooting starts with killing the guy with the gun, the guy with the gun can't stop the shooting.
