An easier response would be to ask them if they've reviewed the Heller decision. You'll likely get a blank stare. Once they've admitted they haven't read it, tell them you'd be happy to continue the discussion once they have.

Heller was all over the news. I only meant that my response was easier because you don't need to have the link handy to show anyone.

I used to carry around a copy of the Constitution to hand to people who claimed something was 'unconstitutional' but gave up. Now I just ask them to point to the specific article they're referring to.

In 2008 I wasn't particularly worried about politics. I must have missed it on the news. Hence, my ignorance of the matter.

Ask them in which other Amendment/s are The People NOT the citizen/s but some other 'group' formed by Gov. Then ask which other Amendment has 'Shall Not be Infringed'.
