Yeah, i went ahead and got a box of 250 greentips that came with 2 - 30 round mags. I think it also comes with one? So, yeah, time to get a shit load more lol.
FYI you can't shoot those green tips at most ranges. Get you some soft point .223 for target practice.
Also unless you got a rifle with a 14.5" barrel and 3 round burst you didn't get an M4. You got an AR15 with a 16" barrel. Best you learn these thing now so you don't sound like a jackass at the range.
I added the link above, but this is the model:
So, I can use .223 out of a 5.56? Yes. I am complete noob. I know 9mm and basics.
Most modern ar’s will fire either .223 or 5.56.
Always check to make sure whatever firearm you’re shooting is chambered for both before trying, however.
Ie, you don’t want to fire a 5.56 out of a cowboy gun that’s only chambered for .223, otherwise you might lose your face.
All good man. It's an M4 clone made for civilian use meaning it doesn't have burst fire or the 14.5" barrel. You might get some sideways looks and eye rolls if you go around telling everyone you have M4 Gun guys and be real dickheads.
You'ree going to have to zero those sights too so you're going to want to get the proper zeroing targets and read up on how to do it. The military targets are set up to zero at 50 yards IIRC but you'll likely be zeroing at 25 so make up you know how to compensate for that when making your adjustments.
Pro tip.. get just enough soft points to put one or two as the first rounds in each mag. If the range officer inspects your mags before shooting, most likely he’ll glance at what’s showing and that’ll be all.
I say this because soft points are more expensive than FMJ.
This won’t cover you if you reload your mags at the range, obviously.
Better yet, find somewhere else to shoot other than a range.
find somewhere else to shoot
This is the absolute worst advice I've ever read. You can't shoot green tips at ranges because the back stops aren't designed to stop steel core ammo. Maybe I spoke out of pocket when I said soft point. What I mean is just plain FMJ. No core. It's usually labeled as target ammo or range ammo.
Best you learn these thing now so you don't sound like a jackass
Like Joe Biden: "A 9mm is a high-power round that will blow your lungs out." Sure, Joe, sure.
Guy at my LGS said to keep 50 mags loaded. I said wtf? He said 'you asked'.

Hard to find free shipping on ammo.
