This is the absolute worst advice I've ever read. You can't shoot green tips at ranges because the back stops aren't designed to stop steel core ammo. Maybe I spoke out of pocket when I said soft point. What I mean is just plain FMJ. No core. It's usually labeled as target ammo or range ammo.
Well I should have clarified… I was doing this at an outdoor range with a thick ass dirt mound for a backstop. I was also using regular FMJ and not steel core. I’d pad the first two rounds with hollow points (this place required hollow or soft points on the rifle range).
Not a good idea for indoor ranges or others with smaller backstops.
Damn a range that required hollow points?! What the fuck do they think we're made of money?
Fully understand now yeah I'd do the same thing.
They required hollows or softs, to be clear. But banning regular FMJ was ridiculous IMO, so yeah, I did what I did.
