In real life don't do this. Indicating that your house has guns can attract a robber. They'll just wait till you aren't home. The prospect of getting guns makes up for the extra hassle of doube/triple checking that you aren't home. If that sounds like bad risk/reward priorities, they are currently robbing houses. It's best if they don't know. Guns have their highest deterrence when robbers have a sense that they have no idea what they are walking into on any house.
