Minor nitpick - cordite hasn't been used since the '40s. If you've ever smelled cordite, it's in ancient ammo.

I'm not in the military and growing up I used my grandpa's shotguns, pistols and rifles to kill invasive, random animals on the farm. That explains it. They weren't high level and definitely from the 50s at the latest.
