Was debating between a Henry lever action (40-70) or M1A Scout in .308. I've been waiting for a year for my special order mini-14, and I've decided to get the big boy version just to have a rifle on hand, just in case the world pops off. I live in a restricted state so my options are limited.
While this isn't the best gun, it's a reliable, time tested battle rifle that IMO is very capable that I don't have to have any weird restrictions placed on it. I don't expect to shoot anything beyond 500 yards, so I will put a BDC scope on it and keep things simple.
- Anyone recommend first steps besides doing a full detail lubrication?
- Recommended tools, accessories, cleaning kit?
- Recommendations on a BDC scope (traditional scope position) as I won't use the scout rail.
- I will be taking basic rifle course and take more advanced courses.
