I have a full vintage box of 16 ga 2 9/16" Winchester Ranger shot shells circa 1940's as far as I can tell, similar to the picture I linked.

I would grade the box at a B -. The edges are frayed a bit, and the tuck-in part of the top cover is creased. The shells are near factory-fresh pristine. The brass is still slightly shiny. They have been in my family for at least 50 years, maybe even since new.
I see the empty boxes selling for $50-$100 on eBay, and I'm curious what the whole package would be valued at. I can't find anything comparable online.
I'm not looking to sell, just curious.

Lots of people collect guns and lots of people hoard ammo but collecting vintage ammo is somewhat niche... Most people will value the box at little more than the value of 25 rds of 16g... But in the proper auction your box could maybe be quite valuable. I would look to places like this: https://wardscollectibles.com/viewcat.php?category=1

Thanks, and thanks for the link. It's a curiosity for me.
I won't sell them. I'll likely give them to my son-in-law. he's a hunter.
