The term "buyback" has always bothered me. I didn't originally buy any weapon from the government and I am unwilling to give them my weapons for any price. Or threat of illegality.
Buying isnt an option. Come and take them.

My approach to gun "buybacks" is that government can buy them back for the right price. And there's only one bloody price I'll take.
There are a couple I'd let go for 20% more than I paid for them because they have chronic malfunction issues. But if you're trying to get them for $50 ea you can piss up a rope lol.

I still don't get the raging hard on the government and the media have for that gun. It's not a particularly good gun at all. It's decent. It gets the job done but there are far better rifles on the market.
It's just a stepping stone. If they can demonize and ban one type of gun (for it's appearance), it will set a precedent and make it easier to ban the rest of the guns.

The government has misread the determination of the gun owning population.
You cannot raise entire generations on the virtues of our wars and the horrors of the holocaust and then tell lawful gun owners to turn in their guns.
The government is the very last group that gun owners trust.

Since the deadline is next year, you can't yet say that they're refusing to turn them in. A correct, non-clickbait headline would be that few have turned in their AR15s before the deadline.
Since all guns are registered, I very much doubt you'll see any left next year. The mounties will just go house to house collecting them without a fight.

My beach town in Fl is flooded by wealthy Canucks from Ontario every winter. I say wealthy because they pay $4K a month for a condo on the beach.
They stay as long as US law allows. I believe its 5 months. After that the US wants to income tax them. So they beat feet back to cuckistan. The ones I have met voted for Trudeau, are anti gun, and wear face masks.
Lots of foreigners here from all over. Besides going 10 mph below the speed limit everywhere and clogging up the restaurants half the year one of the irritating things they do is act like theyve never seen a line before.
