You misunderstand the 26" OAL section. 26" OAL is the ATF's magical determination for "concealable".

ATF uses "handgun" for pistol or revolver designed or intended to be fired from 1 hand. A handgun can't have a vertical foregrip or it makes it an AOW. An AOW has to be less than 26" OAL because an AOW is "concealable".

Also, a pistol is always a pistol and a rifle is always a rifle...

Therefore a pistol or revolver that has a 30" barrel added is always a pistol, just not a concealable one. Since it's not a rifle, can't be an AOW, it's still a pistol... Unless you add a vertical fore grip, then it becomes a "firearm" since it's no longer designed or intended to be fired from 1 hand.

Clear as mud I know.

I have a really good idea. Instead of all the arbitrary shit designating various guns as pistols, rifles etc we just classify them all as firearms, and then stop fucking infringing. Then everybody would understand. And we could disband the atf, or simply turn them into the at.
