OR Could I buy these to and slap them together to build a pistol for $359? https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-pistol-lower-build-kit-with-adjustable-sb-tactical-brace-black-5165448118.html https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-10-5-5-56-1-7-nitride-upper-w-o-bcg-or-ch-507020.html This would be just for fun. No purpose in mind.

Wouldnt be a pistol with a 16" barrel. Also youll still need a lower receiver

Nope... Long barreled pistol is GTG.

If its over 26" oal, its not

You misunderstand the 26" OAL section. 26" OAL is the ATF's magical determination for "concealable".

ATF uses "handgun" for pistol or revolver designed or intended to be fired from 1 hand. A handgun can't have a vertical foregrip or it makes it an AOW. An AOW has to be less than 26" OAL because an AOW is "concealable".

Also, a pistol is always a pistol and a rifle is always a rifle...

Therefore a pistol or revolver that has a 30" barrel added is always a pistol, just not a concealable one. Since it's not a rifle, can't be an AOW, it's still a pistol... Unless you add a vertical fore grip, then it becomes a "firearm" since it's no longer designed or intended to be fired from 1 hand.

Clear as mud I know.

The top link is the 16" regular AR the bottom parts was what I thought I could make into a legal pistol but looks like I goofed & am missing the lower receiver which IAMTheOptimizer pointed out.

Still, 16" is too long to be a pistol. That pistol lower parts kit, basically all that differentiates it from a rifle lower parts kit, is that it has a pistol brace rather than a stock. 16" barrel is still rifle length. Need a shorter barrel to be classified as a pistol, and there is a maximum oal which does not include muzzle devices. So if you bought a lower receiver, that pistol lower parts kit, and an upper with say an 11.5" barrel, youll have a pistol. But if you put that short 11.5 barrel upper onto a rifle lower, like regular stock, youve just illegally manufactured an sbr, and youll get thrown in nigger university.

I think he gets that. Seems like he's thinking either freedom carbine kit, or pistol kit. Both setups he linked need receivers so he'd be (((legal))) however he initially assembles it.

Yeah, I know I put two totally different guns up as options. I was on the fence on options for a similar price range. The link the post was to an AR-15, the bottom two was to build a Pistol but I forgot about the receiver part. If you click on it you will see it's just a 10.5 https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-10-5-5-56-1-7-nitride-upper-w-o-bcg-or-ch-507020.html

You could go buy a lower for like 60$ if you wanted.
